Lisa’s Bio

Lisa Vander Griend is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Registered Play Therapist with a BA in Sociology from Davidson College and a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary. Lisa works primarily with children as a child-centered play therapist. Her specialty is working with children who have experienced trauma (e.g. sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse, and transitional situations such as divorce or death). Through play therapy and the formation of a positive therapeutic relationship, Lisa believes children may be honored and empowered to face and overcome the trials and wounds in their lives. Lisa also works with adolescents and women on a variety of issues from anxiety and depression to adjustment issues. Lisa is on the board for CAPT (Colorado Association for Play Therapy). She also works part time as an adjunct at Denver Seminary, teaching and supervising students in the counseling program.
